Aqsa Choudary – Research Assistant
Aqsa Choudary has worked at the Psychosis Research Unit (PRU) since 2020. Her first role was as a Research Assistant on the STAR (Study of Trauma and Recovery) trial. This is a large-scale study investigating the effectiveness of trauma-focused therapy for people who have experiences of voices, visions, sensations, or worries about being unsafe or persecuted.
Since Summer 2023, Aqsa has also been working on the RAPID Trial as an Assistant Psychologist. Her role involves delivering the SAFETEL intervention, which is a CBT based intervention on safety planning.
Aqsa began her journey to becoming a Research Assistant/ Assistant Psychologist after earning her BSc (Hons) in Psychology from The University of Manchester in 2019. During her studies, she conducted research on older adults’ experiences of loneliness and social isolation, which solidified her passion for a career in research.
Post-graduation, Aqsa volunteered at PRU, where she gained valuable experience writing grant applications and learning assessment procedures. Aqsa also volunteered in various other capacities, including working alongside human rights solicitors, at a special educational needs school, and as a community engagement worker.
Aqsa’s dedication and compassion shine through in her work with study participants. She creates a warm, welcoming environment where people feel safe and comfortable sharing their experiences. Her supportive approach is a testament to her commitment to helping others.
Outside of work, Aqsa enjoys travelling and spending time with her family, including her beloved cats. Her warmth, compassion, and dedication to her field make her an invaluable team member.
